MINUTES FROM MAC MONTHLY MEETING - JANUARY 4, 2007 7:30 - Meeting started. Hap acknowledged there were no guests. Hap introduced new officers for 2007. Hap stated goals for 2007. Strive to get new members. Continue with outreach programs. Look into a loaner scope program. Hold a star party with other clubs. There was discussion between Hap and Paul about name tags for members who didn't have them. Paul requested an email from those who wanted one. 1st Vice President's Report - Brian stated that there was no business. Treausurer's Report - Jimmy reported that the club account which was in Keith McAdam's name had been closed and a check for the balance dispersed by the bank. It was stated that the bank required an FEIN number in order to open a new account in the club's name. There was discussion among members as to whether or not we had such a number and what would be the best thing to do. It was decided that more research would be done before deciding what to do. Observing Report - Paul and Hap reported on the shuttle launch from Bethune. It was explained to the group that the launch was witnessed from a dead end road close to the MAC Hunter site in Bethune. There was discussion about holding a Messier marathon at this site in the spring. Paul reported on the outreach program at Condor Elementary School scheduled for March 15th. The group was reminded that the January O/S would be Saturday the 13th at Mac Hunter. It was reported that the Friday night owl prowls at Congaree Swamp would resume in the spring. Lee Olson graciously donated the Meade video eyepiece and the monitor he won at the Christmas Party to the club. The group enjoyed the first mini-program, The Sky for January through March. The group participated in the second mini-program, Christmas show and tell. Hap did a presentation on cold weather survival for the third mini-program. 8:40 - Meeting adjourned and refreshments served. (Thanks to Lee Olson).
