MINUTES FROM MAC MONTHLY MEETING - September 6, 2007
 
7:29 - Hap starts meeting.
Hap introduces officers.
Hap has everyone else introduce themselves.
Jimmy gives treasury report. Reports that there is $999.98 in the club account.
Jimmy tells members about subscription renewals coming up for Sky and Telescope and Astronomy Magazine.
Paul gives observing reports.
 
7:40 - Outreach Opportunities
Paul introduces Corinne Fenner from Congaree National Park.
Corinne talks about the new “Congaree After Dark” program
Old Business
Hap mentions the rubylith to cover laptop screens available to members for free.
 
7:45 - New Business.
Hap tells group about the invitation from Tom Montgomery of the Charlotte club to
attend the talk given by John Dobson on Friday, October 5th.
A preview of the ETV program ‘Seeing in the Dark’ is shown to the group.
Hap mentions it will air on September 19th.
 
7:52 - Show and Tell
No takers.
Hap tells the group about the solar eclipse coming in August, 2017, that will be visible in South Carolina.
 
7:55 - Main Program.
Hap introduces Adrienne Huffman of the South Carolina State Museum.
She gives slide presentation of the OPT project scheduled for completion in July of 2009.
 
8:30 - Astro-Photo Contest.
Brian conducts the contest. There are no multiple entries in any single category.
No voting is necessary as every entry is a winner.
 
8:40 - Hap mentions the new badges Joe Bartee is working on. The members agree that a color photograph of Saturn taken by one of the club members will be used on the new badges.
Meeting adjourns to the parking lot where refreshments are served .
A Celestron C-11 and the club’s Meade Lightbridge are set up in the parking lot for observations of Jupiter.
