MINUTES FROM MAC MONTHLY MEETING - July 5, 2007 7:32 - Meeting started. Hap introduces officers. Brian introduced guest - David Brown, who is joining the club. Hap asks everyone to check the current roster and update it if necessary. No treasury report as Jimmy is not present. Paul gives observing and outreach reports. 7:50 - Old business - Hap annouces that the PST purchased for the club has been ordered, but has not arrived yet. The price the club paid was $475.00, which included shipping. Al Parker has donated a tripod for the PST. Hap states that the search continues for a 12 inch DOB or similar scope. Dr. Dan Overcash opens discussion among the group about a Meade 10 inch F/4 newtonian that might be available for the loaner program. Hap opens discussion about updating the name badges. He asks for volunteers and Joe Bartee agrees to tackle the project. 8:00 - Show and Tell - Charles shows a nice hardcover book called "The Universe" which he bought at Barnes and Noble. Charles graciously donates the book to the club. A 1/100 scale model of the Saturn V rocket is shown to the group. [Joe Roads had the Saturn V. It was because of the July 20 1969 Apollo 11 landing anniversary date. ] Also on Show and Tell, visitor Jim Blakeslee shows his 8" Celestron Ultima scope he has for sale. 8:12 - Program begins. "The Art and Craft of Astronomical Photography". Presentation is geared toward beginners and encourages those thinking about getting into astrophotography. 9:25 - Meeting adjourns. The refreshments are a no-show.
