MINUTES FROM MAC MONTHLY MEETING - June 7, 2007


7:35 - Meeting started.
      Hap introduces officers
      Brian introduced new member - Mark
      Recognition of one guest - Rusty

7:40 - Paul gives observing reports
      Paul talks about upcoming grazing occulation of
      Regulus.
      There was group discussion about where to meet
      to observe it.
      Decision was made to get updated occulation map
      and determine the best spot - then send a group
      e-mail to members.
      Paul discussed upcoming outreach programs.

7:52 - Discussion initiated by Hap about upcoming telescope
      purchases by club. It was stated that we would
      purchase a PST and a DOB.
      Hap mentioned that Al Parker agreed to donate a
      tripod for the PST. Hap said he would donate a
      telrad for the DOB.
      Hap and Paul Webb discussed looking on Astro-Mart
      for the scopes. Paul agreed to begin looking for deals.
      Paul stated he would contact Hap when
      he found possible deals.

7:55 - Astro-Photo Contest
      Brian states there are only 3 entries. Hap for
      photo of Ophiuchus R region, Paul R for
      photo of Moon-Venus Conjunction, and Hap again
      for animation of Vesta.

      Hap showed some recent pictures taken by some of
      the astronomers at Mac-Hunter. Group enjoyed several
      nice shots taken by Brian, Gene Hunter, John Hodge,
      and Hap.

8:33 - Mini-Programs Begin
      Vesta Animation. Thanks to Leonard Nimoy for the
      narration.

      Demo of planetarium programs begins.
      "The Sky" is demonstrated by Hap. Good overview
      of the basic features is shown.

      "Stellarium", another planetarium program is demonstrated.

      "Virtual Moon Atlas" is demonstrated.

9:15 - Meeting adjourns. Refreshments served.
